Cicione Beverage is a family-owned beverage distribution company located in South Philadelphia. We are the oldest beer distributor in the city of Philadelphia - starting right after Prohibition in 1933.
Vincent and Lena Cicione had been running a grocery store and in 1933 decided to operate a beverage distribution company when Prohibition ended. The operation started at the corner of 20th and Moore Streets, and at that time, beer was permitted to be sold at the grocery store. Now, over 75 years later, the company is still operating and is still located at the same intersection.
When World War II started, it was too difficult for Vincent and Lena to keep both operations, so they gave up the grocery business and concentrated their efforts in the beverage business. They had their four sons help with the business until all but Salvatore left for the war. Salvatore Cicione is the only son still living. As of today, Salvatore and Nancy are still involved with the business. His son, Vincent; and daughter, Helene, are now actively running the business.
